Founding of the city of Tel Aviv – The first Hebrew city
On April 1, 1909, the founding fathers of “ACHUZAT BAIT” gathered on the sands, north of Jaffa, for a lottery of the first plots for building in the areas allocated for the city. In 1910, the city acquired the name Tel Aviv, inspired by Nachum Sokolov’s translation of Herzl’s book ALTNEULAND. Tel Aviv today is a metropolis and a center of Israel’s economy, culture, media and trade.
