Heroines and Heros of Light

The Project of "The heroines and heroes of light"
This year, we didn't really manage to celebrate, but it is still important for us to emphasize and increase the light. During the holiday we embarked on an all-encompassing initiative, in which we operate in the United States, Europe and Latin America, to bring the heroic stories of the people living in the area adjacent to Gaza to Jewish communities worldwide.  19 heroines and heroes visiting 33 communities around the world!
In the United States, we collaborate with our partners at the JCCA, organizing meetings and Chanukkah candle lighting events in more than 20 community centers. In Latin America, we visit Argentina, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama & Chile to share the heroic stories of the survivors.
From the heroism of the Maccabees to the heroism of our time, the people living near Gaza gave a face and an identity to the disaster. They shared their stories directly to diverse communities, deepening the connection and mutual support of the Jewish people. The Heroes and Heroines took part in 87 events around 33 communities and more than 15,000 men and women heard their stories.

Chanukkah is also the holiday of heroism, and we will do everything to increase the light!

Meet the Heroes

#Heroines_and_Heroes_of_Light

The "Heroines and Heroes of Light", 19 men and women, all survivors of the terror attack on Gaza Envelope during October 7th, came together to learn, share, and plan next steps. Those survivals went to some 30 odd Jewish communities around the world, in North America, South America and Europe, to share their personal stories. By doing so they became "Ambassadors" of Israel to the Jewish world. During the gathering that took place in "Hamekarer" gallery (Hebrew for "Refrigerator"), the group was hosted by one of the showing artists, Batia Holin of Kfar Aza. Batia herself is one of the Heroines who went to the Southeast US. She and others have created work arts based on the messages on the Kfar Aza (Kibbutz) WhatsApp group, where people cried for help as Terrorists slaughtered many. The name of the exhibition is "Can someone please Answer now?", showcasing messages from the October 7th massacre and art works of Israeli artists.
Silvio Joskowicz, Head of the Zionists Enterprises Departments said: "You are all not only Heros and Heroines, but also Ambassadors. You chose to leave everything behind despite the turmoil of your life now, and to share your personal story, which became our national story. Your mission abroad touched some 15,000 people, all are know spreading light together, to defeat the darkness".
