On August 11th 1929, as a part of the 16th Zionist Congress that convened in Zurich, representatives from 26 countries announced the establishment of the "Jewish Agency for Israel." Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who was also the president of the World Zionist Organization at the time, was appointed as the president of the agency.
Since its inception, the Jewish Agency has provided the global infrastructure for Aliya, guarantees the safety of Jews around the world, strengthens Jewish identity and connects Jews to each other and to Israel. The Jewish Agency also represents the voices of the Jewish people in the State of Israel and helps shape the face of Israeli society.
On this occasion, we would like to wish our brothers and sisters at the Jewish Agency many more years of Zionist work for the Jewish people in the entire world!
