As a part of the extended executive meeting of the World Zionist Organization, the prestigious Herzl Award was awarded to journalist and Argentinian football broadcaster Hernan Feller, who advocates daily on his broadcasts for the release of the abductees from Hamas captivity. Hernan's aunt, Ophelia Roitman Feller, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz and was held captive by Hamas for 53 days.
During the difficult period that his aunt was held hostage, Feller opened his broadcasts with a resounding monologue about the massacres, rape, looting and unimaginable cruelty caused by the Hamas terrorists and called for the immediate release of all the abductees from Hamas.
At a time when many stayed silent, Hernan took a stand, speaking out bravely and fearlessly while taking a risk to his professional status. In doing so he showed brave and confident leadership.
