"The Children of Sally Bein", a documentary created by the Department for Israel and Holocaust Commemoration Worldwide, tells the moving story of Sally Bein, a visionary educator in Beelitz, Germany, before the Holocaust. His groundbreaking school embraced inclusion by integrating children with special needs into a shared, compassionate learning environment—an innovative approach far ahead of its time.
Tragically, the students and staff were murdered by the Nazis at the Sobibor extermination camp.
The film highlights inclusion as a core value, showing how Bein's educational philosophy continues to serve as a model for building a more just and empathetic society.
Beyond preserving history, the documentary powerfully reinforces the importance of Holocaust remembrance and the urgent need to learn from the past to ensure such atrocities are never repeated.

A picture can tell a thousand stories, and sometimes one image can change how we see ourselves. Images & Identity uses a curated card set, created by the Department for Israel and Holocaust Commemoration at the World Zionist Organization and ASHER, to spark meaningful conversations about who we are and how we remember.
Photographs don’t just capture moments, they capture meaning. Looking at images from the past helps us to see the people, choices, and emotions behind them, and how those stories connect to our own lives today.
