New York · Shavuot 2026
As part of JCC Manhattan's annual Tikkun Leil Shavuot, the JCC and the WZO's Department for Zionist Operations partnered this year on a community art project that sought to return the language of peace — Peace / שלום / سلام — to the heart of public conversation. Israeli artist Racheli Scharfstein created hundreds of three-dimensional renderings of the word “shalom” in three languages, which participants assembled together, over the course of the night, into one large collective installation. The project gives form to a simple idea: that peace is built from small acts of partnership, creativity, and shared hope. One of New York’s most prominent Jewish cultural and community gatherings, the event drew some 2,750 people for a full night of study, culture, music, conversation, and workshops.
