Filmed Testimony
Nicole Zedeck, an i24News reporter based in Tel Aviv, was on standby for work on Saturday morning, October 7th. Her team began reporting on a rocket that had fallen in Yavne, taking shelter with a local family before continuing south — trying to get as close as they could to the areas where terrorists had infiltrated.
At that point, no one really knew what was happening — not Nicole, not her team, not even their management.
They stopped only when they realized that traveling any further south would be too dangerous, and instead reported from Barzilai Hospital, where they witnessed thousands of severely wounded arriving from the surrounding communities.
The following day, October 8th, they made their way to Sderot, and for the week that followed, Nicole continued reporting from the south as rockets exploded overhead and gunfights with terrorists raged on around them.
It was then that Nicole realized — for the first time in her life — that she had become a war correspondent.
