On July 24, nearly 300 people participated in a special webinar initiated by Michal Cababia, Representative of the Executive of WZO in North America.
The event, held via Zoom, focused on the severe humanitarian crisis in southern Syria, where the Druze community is under brutal attack.
Michal opened the event with heartfelt remarks expressing deep solidarity with the Druze community. She emphasized the profound partnership between the Jewish people and the Druze, the historic bond forged both on the battlefield and in nation-building, and the Jewish people’s moral responsibility to speak out when others remain silent.
The keynote speaker was Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh, a trailblazer in Israeli society. She was the first journalist and anchorwoman to present Israel’s main evening news broadcast in both Hebrew and Arabic, the first Druze woman elected to the Knesset, and the first non-Jewish senior envoy of the Jewish Agency. In her talk, she provided an in-depth analysis of the situation facing the Druze in the Golan Heights and southern Syria, examining the implications for regional stability and Israeli security.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session featuring participants from around the world.
