During June 2025, Michal Cababia, Executive Representative of the World Zionist Organization in North America, held a special event in partnership with the Consulate General of Israel in New York to mark Mother’s Day, under the theme: “Iconic Jewish Women – From History to Today.” The event was graciously hosted by Adi Akunis, spouse of the Consul General and former CEO of the Friends of ANU Museum. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Aliza Lavie, scholar, author, former Member of Knesset, and writer of the book Iconic Jewish Women, who captivated the audience with an inspiring discussion on Jewish identity, role models, and female leadership. At the heart of the gathering was the desire to give voice to pioneering Jewish women and foster an intergenerational connection between community participants and exemplary figures from Jewish history. The event was attended by approximately 40 women, including Israel Prize laureate Miriam Peretz, whose words deeply moved the audience and enhanced the collective sense of unity and connection.
