Dr. Hanan Rubin

• He was born in Berlin, the capital of Germany, on August 10, 1908.
• In his youth, he was active in the Zionist movement “Blue and White” (Tekhelet-Lavan).
• He studied law at the universities of Berlin and Freiburg and was awarded a Doctor of Law degree.
• During his academic years, he was active in the German Student Unions Association and a central figure in the "Kadima" student organization.
• In 1930, he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany and later moved to the Socialist Workers' Party (SAPD).
• In 1933, Rubin immigrated to the Land of Israel. He initially worked as an agricultural laborer, and in 1934 was elected to the Executive Committee of the General Federation of Labor (Histadrut).
• He was one of the founders of the Socialist League and a leading figure in Mapam (the United Workers Party).
• With the establishment of the State of Israel, he was elected as a Member of Knesset on behalf of Mapam and served from the First Knesset through the Fifth.
• During his tenure, he served on several Knesset committees, including the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Labor Committee.
• He served as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset from the First through the Fifth Knesset.
• He passed away on October 24, 1962.
