The Hebrew phrase "סוכת שלום" (Sukkat Shalom), meaning "Shelter of Peace," resonates deeply in today's climate, symbolizing safety and dialogue. The art collaboration, SHELTER IN PEACE / SUKKAT SHALOM, unites artists from diverse disciplines and communities to create a Sukkah, reflecting their unique mediums and styles through collage, mixed media, painting, digital images, and photography. This project, created by the Zionist Enterprises Department in collaboration with LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, and Mithabrim, addresses the theme of "home," exploring displacement and the quest for renewal following the October 7 events. The resulting artwork forms were photographed to be printed based on a Sukkah canvas, which is available to organizations across North America. Each can acquire this canvas, incorporating the artists' work and their local touches.
