March 4th, 2014 - The WZO’s Department for Diaspora Activities and Herzl Center welcomed 80 participants of the Nativ College Leadership Program in Israel to Mt. Herzl. Within the framework of the Nativ program’s “Leadership Week”, the group participated in a number of interactive workshops and activities exploring Zionist leadership. The highlight of the day was the Herzl Center’s theatrical tour of Mt. Herzl, where professional actors engaged the participants by introducing them to a number of different historical figures buried on Mt. Herzl, including David Wolfson, the members of the NILI underground group, Ze’ev Jabotinsky and Golda Meir. The performance is based on history and presented with humor and charm, and captivates both the attention and imagination of the participants. After examining and exploring a number of different leadership styles and characteristics of individuals that participated in the founding of the State of Israel, the group reflected on what they learned throughout the day and related it to their everyday work within their communities and movement.
Nativ is a challenging academic year program dedicated to creating and inspiring the Conservative Jewish leaders of tomorrow. Nativ, which means “path” in Hebrew, provides a unique opportunity to explore new directions on the journey to becoming a Jewish adult. From September to May.
