During February a leadership seminar was held for the secretaries and leaders of the Bnei Akiva and Habonim Dror movements of New Zealand, who traveled to Israel at the initiative of the Zionist Federation of New Zealand. The seminar was chaired by Adam Margolis, Desk Director to English speaking Countries, the Herzl Center staff and the local New Zealand Shaliach who came with the group. The group participated in a fascinating visit created around four Zionist leaders that were buried on Mt. Herzl – Herzl, Golda, Jabotinsky and Rabin. Then they head a lecture on the cultural differences between Israel and the western culture, “Home or Homeland”. After the lecture the attendees held a “Beit Ha’am – Z Talks” seminar, which led to a captivating discussion on Israeli and Jewish identity. During the activities the movement secretaries and leaders were exposed to the Department for Activities in the Diaspora content in order to provide them with Zionist educational tools which they can use in the activities that they hold in their movements. At the end of the seminar a culmination discussion was held with the local New Zealand Shaliach.
