During February the routine “Mishelanu” Program activities continued in seven campuses in Northern California, led by Educational Coordinator, Lior Ben Hur. Among the activities it is noteworthy to mention the two day regional seminar that was held this month in Northern California, that is traditionally held once a semester and it draws dozens of students from different campuses in the area, they form friendships, and they enjoy a challenging learning experience about Israeli and Jewish identity. This month another two day seminar was held at Berkley, in which 35 students participated in a group building activity, they cooked meals together, they enjoyed an Israeli bonfire, learned about Israel’s innovative technological developments, engaged in questions about Israeli and Jewish identity through the story of Tel Aviv and they held a moving group Havdalah ceremony.
“Mishelanu” activities on the East Coast started at the beginning of this semester after precise and complex preparation work was carried out with the regular entities during the previous semester. The Educational Coordinator on the East Coast, Dan Bernholz, is leading the activity on six different campuses: New York - Columbia University and Brook College, Philadelphia - Penn and Temple Universities, New Jersey - Rutgers University, and the State of New York - University at Albany. The opening activity was held during February at Rutgers University in New Jersey, with 15 students participating and the opening activity at Brook College in New York also drew 15 participants.
